New medical research is predicting that the upper limit to human life expectancy could increase up to 130 years old within the next century. Currently the world’s oldest living person is Kane Tanaka, a Japanese woman who is 118 years old. She is approximately 4 years shy of the record for oldest person in the modern era held by a French woman named Jeanne Calment, who lived to be 122 years old and died in 1997. Most scientists agree that our present limit to life expectancy is approximately 110 years old so that a 15 to 20 year leap over the next century would be substantial.
A federal judge said Google must face much of a lawsuit accusing the company of illegally recording and disseminating private conversations of people who accidentally trigger its voice-activated Voice Assistant on their smartphones.
In January 2021 COVID-19 was the number one cause of daily deaths in the US, and by the end of last month, June 2021, COVID-19 has dropped to the number seven cause of daily deaths. This change is largely being attributed to the vaccine that was recently released and widely taken across the US. In fact the average daily deaths in the US has fallen by close to a factor of ten since the beginning of the year.
The US Navy has put an indefinite halt on developing a prototype electromagnetic rail gun weapon system in favor of investing funds and research into developing hypersonic missiles. The halt comes after ten years of research and development as well as millions of dollars in funding. Experts estimate that approximately $500 million has already been given to the program. The Navy has not said that the program is completely scrapped but that for now it is not cost effective to continue with the prototype weapon system.

Jeff Bezos recently retired as the President and CEO of the commercial giant Amazon which he originally founded in his garage in 1994. His replacement will be Andy Jassy, the former head of Amazon’s Web Services who first started working at Amazon in the marketing department in 1997. Jassy slowly worked his way up through the ranks at Amazon and in February Bezos announced to employees that he had picked Jassy as his replacement to take effect this month, July 2021.
