According to the latest CDC report, infant mortality is on the rise.

The study showed that infant deaths have risen by 3% in 2022, marking the first increase in two decades. The CDC wrote that the leading causes of these deaths are birth defects, underdevelopment, and sudden infant death syndrome, which makes up 7% of all infant deaths.

Meanwhile, Dr. Tracey Wilkinson at the Indiana University School of Medicine said that a lack of maternity care and access to abortion are some of the contributing factors. She claimed that when pregnancies aren’t intended or planned, they tend to produce less healthy babies.

She went on to say that in addition to these issues, some hospitals are also lacking proper medical personnel who could help deliver babies. It’s worth noting that only 12% of all abortions are reportedly health-related.
