Historians agree that the Lord Jesus Christ was crucified and rose again in the year 30 A.D. or so. Sixty years later, in 98 A.D., it’s widely believed that the Apostle John, the last of Jesus’ apostles, died and entered Glory. Ironically, there was a secular ruler who would become the first of what would be known as the Five Good Emperors. This ruler was born in the year of our Lord’s resurrection and died the same year as the Apostle John. He was the 12th Emperor of the empire, and the final to serve his entire reign in the first century: the Roman Emperor Nerva.
