Tuesday, former President Donald Trump testified at a deposition tied to a civil suit brought by a pair of former FBI officials who lost jobs under his administration.
Former agent Peter Strzok filed the lawsuit in 2019 after being fired for political bias while working on the investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
In 2018, an Inspector General’s report revealed text messages between Strzok and FBI Lawyer Lisa Page from 2016 in which they discussed ways of stopping Trump from becoming president. Page resigned soon after the messages were revealed and, months later, Strzok was fired.
Strzok is suing the DOJ for wrongful termination while Page is suing on the grounds of privacy violations.
This comes as Special Counsel John Durham released a report earlier this year on the FBI’s investigation into Trump’s alleged ties to Russia, which he said was marred by political bias and a lack of evidence.
