Two senior U.S. officials arrived in Armenia Monday to “express deep concern for the ethnic Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh,” according to Reuters.

While there, U.S. Agency for International Development chief Samantha Power will discuss possible steps to address the humanitarian crisis.

However, the Armenian National Committee of America criticized the Biden administration for its lack of action to help so far. The committee says the USAID spent more on photographers for the trip than it did on humanitarian aid in the region over the past three years.

The trip comes one day after 120,000 Armenians fled the contested region after separatists were forced into a ceasefire with Azerbaijan. Now, the ethnic Christians fear persecution and genocide at the hands of the Islamic nation.

Armenia has prepared hotel rooms and other accommodations in order to host those refugees.
