Eleven evangelical colleges are celebrating record enrollment this fall semester.

According to Christianity Today, Asbury University saw a 20% jump in enrollment, East Texas Baptist University’s student population climbed above 1,800, which is the highest in the school’s 111-year history, and Samford University’s incoming freshman class is 10% bigger than its previous class.

These are just a few examples of Christian universities seeing a spike in enrollment.

The college presidents told Christianity Today that students are drawn to the community at small Christian schools. But the schools are also adding more programs – such as nursing, cybersecurity, and health administration – which weren’t offered just a few years ago.

Bethany College’s interim President Jamie Caridi said, “We feel like America today needs Christian education more than ever before…but the marketplace has shifted, so we need to offer academic programs that are relevant to the marketplace.”
