The impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden is ramping up as the House Oversight Committee is preparing to hold its first hearing next Thursday, Sept. 28.

A House Oversight spokesperson says “the hearing will focus on constitutional and legal questions surrounding the President’s involvement in corruption and abuse of public office.” House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) says no new evidence will be given at this hearing; rather, it will serve as “a refresher course on the existing evidence.”

Reporting from NBC News suggests the hearing will feature experts on financial crimes, tax evasion, racketeering, and more.

This comes as the Oversight Committee is expected to subpoena bank records belonging to Hunter Biden and Joe Biden’s brother, James, sometime this week.

The White House is calling the hearing a distraction in the midst of Republican infighting over government spending. Next week’s hearing will take place just two days before the deadline to avoid a government shutdown.
