The Supreme Court is allowing the Biden administration to enforce its regulation of “ghost guns,” or homemade firearms without serial numbers.
A 5-to-4 Tuesday vote temporarily stayed a lower Texas court’s challenge on the gun control policy. Biden changed the “ghost gun” definition last year to include unfinished gun parts, like frames and receivers. These parts are now required to have serial numbers themselves, and dealers are required to run background checks on potential buyers of the parts.
The decision is temporary, meaning that the Biden administration can enforce the regulation while challenges are still playing out in court.
