President Joe Biden’s latest attempt at granting Americans student debt forgiveness is seeing another major upset. A Texas federal appeals court has temporarily blocked Biden’s latest student debt relief policy.

A group of 70 Texas higher education institutions, called Career Colleges and Schools of Texas, challenged a particular policy that expanded the amount of borrowers in line for relief.

The rule would have made it easier for student borrowers to have their debts relieved if they were misled or defrauded by a university. This would have expanded the number of circumstances that justify loan relief, while easing the process for applications.

But the three-panel court granted the schools’ motion to temporarily block the new policy. The case will be heard on Nov. 6.
