A number of Congressional Republicans have called the indictment of former President Donald Trump a distraction from the ongoing probe into alleged Biden family corruption.
For his part, Trump compared the Biden administration to an authoritarian regime and accused the DOJ of interfering with the 2024 election.
Speaking of 2024, Trump’s chief primary rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis commented on the situation. He called for justice reforms to end government weaponization, including moving federal trials out of D.C.
Meanwhile, Republican hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy released a video statement. But not everyone was sympathetic. Former Vice President Mike Pence released a statement calling the indictment an important reminder that “anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States.”
