President Biden has decided to keep U.S. Space Command headquarters at their current location in Colorado, snubbing Alabama.

Brigadier Gen. Patrick Ryder made the announcement for the Pentagon, saying it was to ensure “peak readiness in the space domain.” The decision overturns former President Donald Trump’s choice to move the command to Huntsville, Alabama.

Alabama Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville says that the reversal was politically motivated. Tuberville is withholding military nominations until the president reverses taxpayer funding of abortions for service members and veterans.

The senator says he believes it sets a dangerous precedent that military bases are a type of reward for political support. But he says he will continue to fight to bring the command to Alabama, which was one of the original top-three choices for the headquarters.
