According to reports, the number of migrant families with kids crossing the border have almost tripled in the past two months.

Customs and Border Protection data shows a concerning increase in overall migrant crossings. MSNBC News reports that, earlier this week, 2,230 migrants crossed the southern border daily compared to 790 in June. And while single adults still outnumber families, migrant households are the fastest growing demographic according to the data.

Those who advocate for migrant families say that they are trying to escape poverty and violence in their countries, while conservatives argue that undocumented immigrants are incentivized to bring children with them because they are more likely to receive asylum claims.
