This past week, the major indices on Wall Street enjoyed a strong few days, but a volatile market could be ahead again as economists prepare for next week’s Federal Reserve meeting.
Early in the week, the NASDAQ, the S&P 500, and the DOW Jones continued a positive run following some encouraging inflation data from the previous week, and spurred on by several good earnings numbers as big corporations across Wall Street released their quarter 2 earnings this past week.
The DOW Jones led the way. At the closing bell on Thursday, the index posted its ninth consecutive winning day, for its longest active win streak in six years.
While the big week has pleased many investors , stormy waters could be looming on the horizon. Next week, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is expected to announce another increase in interest rate after June’s meeting saw the interest rate hold the line.
