FBI Director Christopher Wray faced the fire of the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday. The committee demanded answers “on the abuse of power in federal agencies.”
This created tense moments as the committee grilled the director on Hunter Biden’s laptop, the Mar-a-Lago raid, and the persecution of pro-life advocates. Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) also raised concerns about how the FBI obtains Americans’ private data, even if they are not accused of a crime.
Jordan gave the example of how the FBI collected data on Bank of America customers in the Washington, D.C. ,area around the Jan. 6 riot.
But Wray ultimately rejected claims that the agency has an anti-conservative bias. He says the FBI encourages agents to do the right thing in the right way, which includes following facts despite their own biases.
Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell (Calif.) condemned the GOP’s accusations of weaponization.
