Special Counsel Jack Smith is now focusing on Arizona as he continues his probe into the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
The Arizona’s secretary of state office confirms they have received two subpoenas, one each or the previous and current administrations. They may have received those subpoenas all the way back in May.
The special counsel is chasing information related to lawsuits challenging the election results.
President Joe Biden narrowly won the Republican stronghold state by just over 10,000 votes in 2020. But the Trump campaign and Arizona Republican Party claimed there were discrepancies and legally challenged the results.
Smith has previously subpoenaed Arizona state lawmakers in connection to the probe, but he doesn’t seem interested in talking to former Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey.
Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence both contacted the governor after the election results, and the special counsel is investigating if these calls were meant to pressure Ducey into finding more Republican votes.
