As June came to a close over the weekend, Congress is now looking to hold the Department of Defense accountable for the tax dollars it spent on “Pride Month activities.”
Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy sent a letter to the DOD giving it until July 15 to report back on the money allocated to these funds. The letter said that these funds were “most apparent during the month of June.” Taxpayer money went towards flying service members across the country for pride events, as well as training on how to avoid “gendered language.”
Roy argues the funds could be better used elsewhere and that the military embracing politically divisive topics is hurting recruitment.
