The back-and-forth battle continues over Arkansas’ ban on transgender treatments for minors. Tuesday, a federal judge struck down the ban, saying lawmakers failed to prove that such treatments are harmful to children.
He said the evidence shows that transgender treatments improve patients’ wellbeing and that the state was undermining “the interests it claims to be advancing.”
In 2021, Arkansas became the first state to institute a ban on transgender treatments for kids after state lawmakers voted to override then-Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s veto on the law.
Current GOP Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders says she will appeal the judge’s decision, saying “the far-Left’s woke vision of America is not appropriate to protect children.”
