Former President Donald Trump was slapped with yet another gag order Monday – this time relating to the ongoing classified documents case.
A federal magistrate judge agreed to the request from special counsel Jack Smith. Trump and his co-defendant – former aide Walt Nauta – are now barred from sharing any information about the case with news outlets or on social media.
In addition, the two defendants will only be allowed to see collected evidence in the presence of their attorneys.
The Justice Department requested the gag order on Friday – saying public disclosures about the case could compromise the investigation including possible future arrests.
Trump is under a similar order in his Manhattan hush money case. Trump pleaded not guilty in both cases.
