Four Colombian children are safely back home after surviving 40 days in the Amazon Forest.
Unfortunately, the four siblings’ mother and two pilots were killed when the small aircraft they were on crashed into the Colombian Amazon on May 1. But, the children were able to escape and took care of each other until help finally came.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro said that finding the four young siblings on June 9 was a “joy for the whole country.” He also said the children “achieved an example of total survival which will remain in history.”
After being rescued, the kids were initially taken to a hospital in Bogota. Their grandparents have since movedĀ them closer to home.
