Wednesday, in an unsurprising move, President Biden vetoed a Republican-led bill to cancel his $400 billion student loan forgiveness plan. Biden shared a video to Twitter, announcing what is the fifth veto of his presidency.

The bill passed both the House and the Senate with bipartisan support. Critics argue President Biden doesn’t have the authority to forgive student loans.

They also say it’s unfair to force American taxpayers to pay for loans they didn’t take out. Meanwhile the Supreme Court is expected to rule on the plan in coming weeks.
