Nebraska’s new combo law that bans transgender treatments minors and restricts abortions is under attack.

The “Let Them Grow Act” prevents gender surgeries and hormone treatments for those under age 19. Republicans also added an amendment banning most abortions after the twelfth week of pregnancy.

But the American Civil Liberties Union says this combo violates a state requirement that bills stick to a single subject. They’re now suing to have the law overturned.

But the law’s sponsor Senator Kathleen Kauth says the bill does have only one focus – namely letting kids grow into healthy adults.

She believes the bill will survive the lawsuit. But the legal challenge may stop the law from taking effect in October.
