President Biden landed in Japan earlier today ahead of the Group of Seven summit, where he’s expected to face both domestic and international challenges.

A major focus for the G7 will remain the war in Ukraine. The Biden Administration plans to introduce a new sanctions package focused on closing loopholes.

Of course, global support for Ukraine is also meant to warn China about the consequences of aggressive behavior.

China will be key topic in the summit agenda, according to National Security Advisor John Kirby.

He says a focus will be on how to compete fairly with China trade to provide an option to the country’s bullying.

Meanwhile, domestic problems are expected to follow Biden to the summit. Not only will he be keeping in touch with negotiators at home, but a default is a concern for other countries.
