The Walt Disney Company sued Governor Ron DeSantis earlier today. Disney is asking a court to overturn Florida’s efforts to exert control over the company’s theme parks in Orlando.
In its lawsuit, the company said it is “left with no choice” but to go ahead with legal action.
It claims this was to protect itself against “a relentless campaign to weaponize government power against Disney in retaliation for expressing a political viewpoint.”
The lawsuit alleges that a newly formed DeSantis-appointed tourist board violated Disney’s contract rights. It also claims the board did so without just compensation while depriving the company of due process.
Disney also argues it was denied its First Amendment rights to free speech.
