Thousands and thousands of asylum seekers are being apprehended all across the southern border of the United States as a surge in immigration activity is unfolding in the weeks leading up to the end of the Title 42 public health order.
Title 42 – 265 declares a “Suspension of entries and imports from designated places to prevent spread of communicable diseases.” The law was largely enforced to stem the tide of immigrants entering into the United States who were COVID-19 positive, though the policy pertains to any disease.
Title 42 expires on May 11 and the Biden administration is quickly trying to get ahead of what could be a major surge in immigrant activity (both legal and illegal). President Biden has publicly warned that migrants entering into the U.S. illegally will be removed.
Migrants from all across Central America are weighing their options leading up to May 11. If Biden’s rhetoric is to be taken seriously, immigrants who are not waiting for Title 42 to expire are risking deportation.
A Venezuelan mom named Janeicy intended on waiting a few more weeks but told Border Report, “Life is so hard on the streets of Juarez, I don’t know if I can hold out two more weeks. First I have no money. Second, I’m afraid to give up now and be sent back after coming so far away.”
Tennessee Congressman Mark Green is very skeptical that immigrants have much to worry about if they attempt to enter now or after Title 42 expires.
“[U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Alejandro Mayorkas’s goal is to usher immigrants into this country by providing them with an easy-to-use [CBP One] app,” Green told Fox News’s Bill Hemmer.
His goal is to speed people into the country, this is all very intentional. They’ve basically opened up our southern border. The cartels have seized the opportunity and are using it to get drugs and smuggle people. This is making them billions of dollars and destabilizing cities all across America.
TENT CITIES POPPING UP
Regardless of the politics, some border towns are being proactive rather than reactive. They are bracing now for what many are calling a “surge” in illegal immigration. Tent cities are being erected all across the southern border as the daily totals of apprehensions reported are in the thousands and growing rapidly. The crude structures are being used to contain the massive influx of asylum seekers who are starting to pour into these small towns.
Once Title 42 is lifted, immigrants can claim that they have an acute medical emergency, are a trafficking victim, or are facing an “extreme and imminent” threat to safety, in order to gain entry to the country. Once permitted to stay, they will wait to be assigned a hearing date when they can state their case for permanent asylum in court. These dates sometimes take several months to even schedule and many immigrants simply don’t show up for their day in court.
