Following a push by legislators across the aisle for full transparency in the investigation concerning the now defunct “Disinformation Governance Board,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has finally released documents containing internal communication between the board’s former Executive Director, Nina Jankowicz and her staff, with more redactions than legible content.
Despite Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkis’ insistence that the board was rooted in “best practices,” the heavily redacted documents raise further questions regarding the board’s intentions, particularly in regard to the suppression of American free speech.
PREDICTING THE ‘BLOWBACK’ WILL ‘DIE DOWN’
Released to Citizens United, a conservative nonprofit, the hundreds of pages of email communication reveal Jankowicz highlighting the public’s “blowback” reaction to the board’s existence, dubbing it the “Ministry of Truth.”
Further communication discusses Jankowicz’s expectation that the outrage will diminish over time.
“I appreciate all the work that happened over the past few days (and everyone’s support),” she wrote in a mass email to her staff, “and am confident the worst of this will die down over the weekend.”
However, the blowback never died down. Just three weeks after its formation, the Disinformation Governance Board was paused, Jankowicz resigned, and three months later the board was officially disbanded. The board had been under severe scrutiny since its announcement, with public outcry fueling demands from legislators to articulate its exact mission and purpose returning void of any further clarification.
‘ORWELLIAN’ POLITICIZATION OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH
According to an article by Just the News, Citizens United President David Bossie claims the Biden administration is guilty of “politicizing the executive branch to prosecute political opponents.”
“Joe Biden’s Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board (“DGB”) is just the latest example of the left’s push to weaponize the massive powers of the federal government for political purposes,” Bossie said in a statement given to the publication. “Whether it’s the Justice Department, the IRS, or the Department of Homeland Security, the Biden Administration is laser-focused on targeting, silencing, and censoring Americans who do not agree with their radical agenda.”
Senators Josh Hawley (R-Mo) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) have been at the forefront of the initiative to expose the board’s actions and intentions, and have been responsible for uncovering collusion between Big Tech and the board regarding information suppression and censorship.
As previously reported by FISM, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) issued a subpoena earlier this month compelling Jankowicz to appear for a deposition regarding her duties as a DHS employee and former Executive Director of the Board, after five failed attempts to “voluntarily gain information” from her.
Despite the Disinformation Governance Board’s swift end, legislators highlight collective avoidance of the board’s justification raises suspicions concerning potential malice.
