More troubles abroad. Over the weekend, the State Department confirmed that two U.S. citizens went missing in Haiti. Now the couple’s family is pleading with the federal government to get them home safely.

Abigail and Jean-Dickens Toussaint were taken near Port-au-Prince and have been held for days. The couple was on a trip to visit family and attend a festival when they were kidnapped during a bus ride.

According Jean-Dickens’ sister, the gang is asking for $200,000 a person for their release. She said her family is currently in contact with the FBI to help with their case.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time this family has dealt with Haitian kidnappings. Two other family members were kidnapped seventeen years earlier. Thankfully those two were released.

But Haiti’s gangs have grown stronger since the 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moise, and this marks the latest in a spate of kidnappings within the country.
