DIRECTV owners can once again watch Newsmax after the two companies completed a business distribution deal months in the making.

Newsmax was already a part of the DIRECTV service, which included the regular satellite network as well as DIRECTV STREAM and U-verse. However, a carriage agreement with Newsmax ran out on January 25.

Since then, the two companies had been engaged in negotiations in order to restore the deal. The talks became tense as Newsmax even accused DIRECTV of purposefully trying to nudge out the politically conservative channel.

Christopher Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax, responded to the completion of the deal saying that his company “recognizes and appreciates that DIRECTV clearly supports diverse voices, including conservative ones.”

“As a standalone company, DIRECTV gave Newsmax its start nearly a decade ago as it continues to do with upcoming news networks, which is why we are pleased to reach a mutually beneficial agreement that will deliver our network to DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM and U-verse customers over the next several years,” Ruddy added.

Bill Morrow, CEO of DirecTV, also commented on the deal’s completion in a statement corroborated by multiple news outlets.

Morrow said that the deal “underscores our dedication to delivering a wide array of programming and perspectives to our customers.” He also breathed a sigh of relief in completing an apparently “all-too-common carriage dispute.”

A Newsmax writeup on the resolution says that there have been “no less than 140 distinct disputes pitting programmers or station groups against their primary distributors.”

Newsmax will be available on DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM, and U-verse at no extra charge.
