Two Republican lawmakers released an 18-page report on Monday detailing the dangers of “woke ideology” within the armed forces and calling out the Biden administration and military leaders for failing to uphold its main objective: “to provide for the common defense of our nation.”

Produced by Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Congressman Chip Roy, “Woke Warfighters” analyzes the effects of how military leadership’s embrace of the left’s agenda has resulted in the weakening of America’s warfighters. The report accuses the Biden administration of “eroding our greatest source of security” by turning the “greatest fighting force in the world” into a “left-wing social experiment.”

The report provides a breakdown of several instances in which the armed forces have chosen this “sustained assault fueled by woke virtue signaling” rather than fulfilling its role as the facilitator of patriotism, honor, and service.

The congressmen use the February 5, 2021 memorandum signed by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin as one case-in-point of the military’s misplaced focus. In the missive, Austin called for a one-day military-wide-stand-down to discuss “extremism within the ranks,” despite the fact that cases of prohibited extremist activity among service members are proven to be extremely “rare.” In fact, the Biden administration’s “Countering Extremist Activity Working Group” (CEAWG) found that instances of extremism are a fraction of a single percent – .005%.

Rubio and Roy allege that this memorandum “sowed further divisions” among troops and wasted “more than 5,359,000 personnel hours” that could have been better spent on military preparedness.

The document also highlights Critical Race Theory (CRT) indoctrination of children and military service members through the Department of Defense Education Agency (DODEA), which “exists to operate K-12 schools around the world and in the United States,” and the U.S. Service Academies in which Marxist literature and racist ideologies are woven into the curriculum. The two legislators point out that more time and effort is placed on promoting CRT than on reducing the suicide rate and instances of violence amongst the ranks.

“To the Biden Administration, advancing their woke ideology is more important than keeping our soldiers safe,” the document reads.

The promotion of gender ideology and funding of expensive “sex reassignment procedures” is also discussed, including the dangers of the celebration of those with gender dysphoria while disregarding the potential mental health concerns of these individuals and how it may affect their ability to serve.

Rubio and Roy point out how recruitment efforts have vastly changed over the years to this end, pivoting from Uncle Sam calling upon America’s nationalistic pride in World War 2 to today’s advertisements including a rainbow flag with no American flag to be seen.

Focusing on what is different among us, rather than that which unites us, only serves to foster division and discontent among service members,” the congressmen write, adding, “the Biden administration’s divisive rhetoric
and propaganda continue to bring down the military’s already-low recruitment numbers. It is irresponsible and extraordinarily dangerous to allow them to continue.”

The report concludes with the detailing of the Biden administration’s track record of “punishing those who object to woke ideology and giving license to those who agree with it.”

Examples of this include the investigation of a U.S. Army chaplain who praised the overturn of Roe v. Wade, while the public statement of a junior medic in uniform questioning her ability to “support and defend the Constitution” in a country that treats women like “second-class citizens” was ignored.

In a sobering statement about the report, Rubio noted that the military’s leadership is in fac hijacking the focus of American service members and thus promoting a weakened force.

“We need to spend more time thinking about how to counter Chinese aircraft carriers and less time thinking about pronouns,” said Rubio.
