A recent poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal found a major shift over party lines for white women in suburban America.
The poll recorded a 27% swing “toward the Republican party since July, now reflecting a 15-point lead over Democrats,” the Daily Caller News Foundation reported in an article for The Free Press.
According to the poll’s findings, white suburban women consist of 20% of the total electorate, a demographic which has the potential to be a “powerful force” at the ballot box.

The poll found that this demographic has an overall 60% disapproval rating of President Joe Biden and currently favors Republican leadership on major issues such as crime and foreign policy.
Rising prices were the top issue motivating these voters, however, with 34% listing crippling costs as the number one priority. For most participants, overall confidence in the Republican party to handle the economy and inflation overshadowed the abortion issue.
“It’s absolutely true that these women have shifted their gaze more on the economy than abortion,” one pollster noted, as costs continue to rise with no end in sight. “..they think we’re in a recession,” she continued. “A majority are feeling financial strain in this economy.”
White suburban women are a key demographic concerning election races. These voters were a major contributor to the 40-seat Democratic win in the 2018 House races, giving Democrats control of the House.
When surveyed on who they believe the most guilty culprit is causing nationwide division, the news media and social media scored high percentages among all voters.
Author’s Biblical Analysis
As our nation faces this crucial election season, it is easy to be consumed by the political temperature of the times. Evil seemingly abounds worldwide and the condition of America is a sobering realization.
The temptation to fall into fear or pessimism can be overwhelming, but the believer can rest in the promises of God, who raises up and demotes leaders. All is in His hands. We can look to the book of Daniel for reference.
Daniel 2:21-22 reads, “He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.”
