Christian McCaffrey did it all for the San Francisco 49ers in his second game for his new team.

The star running back threw a touchdown pass, caught one, and ran in for one in San Francisco’s 31-14 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

McCaffrey became the fourth player with a TD pass, rushing TD, and TD reception in the same game since 1970, joining Walter Payton, LaDainian Tomlinson, and David Patten. The 49ers acquired McCaffrey from Carolina in a trade on Oct. 20.

“I think the biggest thing is coming out with a win, and playing the second half like that, too,” McCaffrey said. “I think the thing I’m most happy about is just this whole team welcoming me in with open arms.”

McCaffrey, the son of former NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, was a first-round pick out of Stanford in 2017. His Christian faith has been a foundation for him throughout his career.

“My favorite books in the Bible are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, just because they’re all a different perspective of Jesus’ life,” McCaffrey told Insider last year. “Whether you believe in it or not, the kind of person he was, it gives perspective on how we all should live.”
