The Billy Graham Evangelical Association recently released a free resource warning Christians about the dangers of progressive Christianity.
Graham’s new resource, “Progressive Christianity is Dangerous for Your Soul,” explains that “progressive Christianity is not a Gospel at all. It has nothing to do with the Gospel of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. It results in nothing but spiritual confusion and chaos.”

Progressive Christianity falsely teaches that “Jesus of Nazareth was not a messiah and not a Christ, but he was…sent by God to show us what it means to be true to our own self.” This perversion of Christianity has gained traction in recent years as many individuals trade in biblical authority for cultural acceptance.
Many “progressive” ideologies, like transgender surgeries for minors, defunding the police, and the recently introduced resolution by liberal representatives to formally declare the creation of the state of Israel as a “nakba” or “catastrophe,” continue to take root in society. In addition, according to Time, some Christian churches within the Presbyterian Church and the United Church of Christ formally sanction gay marriage, unequivocally going against biblical teaching.
Bethel Congregational United Church of Christ, a progressive Christian church in Portland, supports the myth that “there are many trains” to Heaven and reconciliation with God and explains that they “don’t believe the Bible is the inerrant or infallible word of God.”
Scripture says the exact opposite.
In John 14:6, Jesus explains to Thomas that He is the only path to the Father.
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”
And in Psalm 18:30, the Bible explains the perfection of God’s word.
“As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.”
In his new resource, Graham explains that “Biblical teaching on the precious blood of Christ, the sacrificial, substitutionary, atoning work of Christ’s death on the cross, is too often neglected or distorted…to reject the deity of Christ is to deny Christ and doom yourself to an eternity spent in hell. To love darkness more than light will end in an eternity in hell. To hope that good works alone will earn salvation, while rejecting the gift of everlasting life through faith in Christ alone, will lead straight into the eternal abyss.”
As Satan gains ground in the culture wars, biblical truth continues to go unheeded. Many in society have drifted to an individualistic tailored view of God – a view that does not accept God as the almighty Creator of the universe and all of creation, but, instead, puts God into whatever box a person needs Him to fulfill – under the guise of finding their own truth. The problem with this is that the truth is not malleable. It cannot be changed to suit a whim.
In Corinthians 15:3-4, Paul explains the true Gospel.
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,”
And John 3:16 declares the unsurpassed love that God has for His creation, explaining that He sent His own son to die so that we may be saved.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
