U.S. State Department is granting more than $20,000 worth of taxpayer funds to a South American cultural center for the purpose of hosting “drag theater performances” in an effort to “promote diversity and inclusion.”
As first reported by Fox News, according to USASpending.gov’s summary of the grant, exactly $20,600 has been provided to the Centro Ecuatoriano Norteamericano (CEN), a non-profit organization that has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the state department in the past.

As part of the State Department’s Public Diplomacy Program, the grant’s objective is “to support the achievement of U.S. foreign policy goals and objectives, advance national interests, and enhance national security by informing and influencing foreign publics and by expanding and strengthening the relationship between the people and government of the United States and citizens of the rest of the world,” according to the website.
The project, which started on September 30th, will run just shy of a year, concluding on August 31, 2023, and will include 3 workshops, 12 drag theater performances, and a 2-minute documentary.
The cultural center hosts children as young as eight years old through the age of adulthood, according to its website. Which age groups will be allowed access to view the drag shows is unclear, but it is important to note that the cultural center’s programs are vastly targeted toward youth below the legal age of adulthood.
Various English programs offered at the cultural center list age requirements for children as young as eight, though it is unclear if the center hosts children of even younger ages.
Author’s Biblical Analysis
Throughout scripture, we see many warnings against the normalization, acceptance, or desensitization of sin. The text is clear of God’s heart for children, especially, and we see examples of this highlighted in the Gospels when Jesus is speaking to His disciples.
Luke 17:1-2 reads, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.”
It is evident that God considers the purporting and encouraging of sin a grave evil, and we can look to Isaiah for yet another instance where this is addressed.
Isaiah 5:20 simply states, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”
As society turns further toward darkness each day, the hope we have in Christ through the Gospel is the only resolution for the sin that is plaguing this nation’s government and people. Repentance and forgiveness of sins in Christ is the solution.
