In a testament to God’s faithfulness, more than 2,000 people trusted in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior during a recent Billy Graham Evangelistic Association event in Mongolia, according to reports from The Christian Post.
Under the leadership of the late American pastor’s son, Rev. Franklin Graham, the association has continued the work of its influential founder years after his death. Roughly 17,000 Mongolians attended the two-day event, called the “Festival of Hope.”
It featured performances from Mongolian Christian band Naki, as well as a message of the gospel from Rev. Graham.
Graham, as his father before him had done for so many years during his ministry, laid out the gospel simply and boldly. He said,
[God] sent his Son from Heaven to earth to save you. Are you broken in your spirit? Are you spiritually empty? Have you wasted your life? Will you come to Him? You need Jesus Christ — He is the only way to God. Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me.’
Upon Graham’s invitation, over 2,000 sinners came forward and made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.
This is wonderful news for Christians, not only for the celebration of many sinners coming to repentance but also for the location in which this mass conversion took place.
According to reports, Christianity in Mongolia is an extreme minority religion, with only 2% of the nation professing Christ and most of the country labeled as “unreached.” The majority of the population confesses to the Buddhist faith, while an additional 35% identify as religiously unaffiliated.
Despite the odds, Franklin Graham and his global outreach ministry, Samaritan’s Purse, have pressed on with great vigilance to spread the love and hope of Christ in the region.
He said recently,
I am grateful we have been able to care for so many precious Mongolian children. While physical needs are important, and I want to do everything I can to meet those needs, I believe the greatest needs of the human heart are spiritual.
