With the midterm elections fast approaching, and the Republicans gearing up to possibly take over the majority in the House of Representatives, the threat of impeachment hangs over President Biden’s head.
Some Republicans have already begun to introduce articles of impeachment against the president, citing his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and immigration policy, and according to a recent Rasmussen survey, Americans seem to support the measure.
Released on September 8, the Rasmussen Reports survey found that 52% of likely U.S. voters would support impeaching Biden. Of that group, 38% strongly support the idea of impeaching Biden.
Broken down by political affiliation, 77% of Republicans and 50% of independents are in favor of impeaching the current president. What might be more shocking is that 32% of Democrats, almost one-third of the party, are also in favor of impeachment.
Meanwhile, the survey showed that 42% are opposed to the idea of impeaching Biden, with 30% in strong opposition.
However, the survey also showed that Americans are uncertain if the GOP will follow through on their impeachment threats.
In fact, if Republicans were to win a majority in the House of Representatives come November, Rasmussen found that 47% of voters believe that impeachment attempts will follow compared to 43% who believe that it will not.
These results follow a previous Rasmussen Survey from January 2022, which found that half of American voters (50%) supported impeaching Biden.
