Update: New details have emerged concerning Vicky White’s role in the escape since initial publication. Yesterday officials relayed that they were operating under the assumption that she was either coerced or forced to comply with Casey White, but today a warrant was issued for her arrest charging her with permitting or facilitating escape in the first degree.
It was also divulged that Vicky White retired from her job effective Friday, sold her home one month ago, and did not appear to be physically forced to help Casey White.

On Friday at 9:41 a.m., murder suspect Casey White and corrections officer Vicky White went missing from Lauderdale County jail in Alabama.
Vicky White, Assistant Director of Corrections at the Lauderdale Sheriff’s Office, removed Casey White to take him to the county courthouse for a mental evaluation, though no mental evaluation was scheduled that day. Casey White was never dropped off at the courthouse and has not been seen since. The two are not related.
The U.S. Marshals Service has offered up a $10,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to the capture of White. U.S. Marshal Marty Keely commented that “Casey White is believed to be a serious threat to the corrections officer and the public,” warning the public, “Do not attempt to apprehend this fugitive.”
“All indications are that Director White was involved and participated in the escape,” said Lauderdale Sheriff Rick Singleton. “We are trying to determine was that done willfully, or was she somehow coerced or threatened into participating.”
Singleton told CNN that his office is approaching the case from three different angles: “Whether Vicky White was overpowered and kidnapped; whether she assisted inmate Casey White in escaping; and if she assisted him, whether she did so willingly or was coerced or threatened to do so.”
Brittany Harry, a reporter in Alabama, provided a detailed timeline of the events surrounding the escape via Twitter, showing that there was a near 6-hour time lapse between the fugitive’s escape and the initiation of a search.

Casey White confessed to killing a woman and is serving 75 years in prison. He was also convicted of a variety of other offenses including cruelty to animals for shooting a dog. White is 38 years old, 6-foot-9, and considered armed and dangerous.
ABC News reported, “Casey White previously planned to escape from the Lauderdale County Detention Center in the fall of 2020, but officials thwarted the plot before he could attempt it. When prison officials got word of the plot, they found a homemade knife in White’s possession and learned that he was planning to take a hostage.”
Vicky White, on the other hand, is described as an exemplary employee and well-liked by her colleagues. She coordinates all transports from the detention center to the courthouse and therefore knew the protocol.
Singleton commented, “Knowing the inmate, I think she’s in danger, whatever the circumstances. He was in jail for capital murder, and he had nothing to lose.”
Authorities are still trying to find the identity of the getaway car that was used after the transport vehicle was abandoned and are also searching for any form of communication or interaction between Casey White and Vicky White.
A manhunt for Casey White and Vicky White is ongoing. FISM News will provide further updates to the case as they become available.
