Catholics and evangelicals alike have been appalled in the last year over Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s utter hypocrisy in propagating pro-abortion policies while also claiming to be a devout Roman Catholic.
One of these is Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, who heads the Archdiocese of San Fransisco, the same archdiocese to which Speaker Pelosi belongs. Bishop Cordileone has been one of the most outspoken and public critics of Pelosi, as well as President Biden, for their stance as pro-abortion Roman Catholics. This year, he has even called for them to be barred from receiving the elements of communion.
But despite his outrage at these political figures, he has also made it clear that he desires repentance above anything else. Earlier this week, Bishop Cordileone spearheaded a movement to raise awareness for the lives of unborn children that are in danger under the statutes put forward by politicians such as Biden and Pelosi. Alongside the Benedict XVI Institute, the bishop arranged for over 7,000 roses to be delivered to the U.S. Capitol building as a physical reminder that every human life is sacred. The leaders of this campaign made sure to point out that their intention was to raise awareness to Speaker Pelosi specifically, in a loving way, and not to cause trouble.
The bishop said:
Each (rose) represents a Catholic praying and fasting for Nancy Pelosi’s conversion to the Gospel of Life…This is what equality means: Every human life is equally sacred. Speaker Pelosi, we love you. It is not too late: choose life.
To date, over 16,000 Roman Catholics have contributed to this pro-life movement since its birth at the end of September.
