On the 20th anniversary of the horrific 9/11 terrorist attacks, the FBI released the first of several documents that reveal the details of their investigation into the 9/11 attacks. The first document released is a summary of an interview with a man who was in contact with conspirators who provided logistical support to some of the hijackers.

Many families of 9/11 victims have long sought the release of the investigation due to their belief that the Saudi Arabia government was complicit in the attacks. The document does show that the men had connections with several Saudi associates, but does not reveal any direct connection with senior Saudi Arabia officials.  Lawyers for the families said that the document along with other evidence validates their claims of Saudi Arabia collusion. According to reports from Reuters, family members from nearly all of the victims and many of the 20,000 people who were injured in the attack are seeking billions of dollars in damages from the Saudi government.

Saudi Arabia is claiming innocence and affirmed the release of the documents. The Saudi Embassy said recently in a statement,

As past investigations have revealed, including the 9/11 Commission and the release of the so-called ’28 Pages,’ no evidence has ever emerged to indicate that the Saudi government or its officials had previous knowledge of the terrorist attack or were in any way involved.

More information will certainly come to light as the FBI releases more documents. While there is no explicit evidence of Saudi involvement in the conspiracy according to the FBI, 15 of the 19 hijackers who crashed the four planes on 9/11 were of Saudi descent.

Many in America continue to believe Saudi Arabia was involved in the attacks. Terry Strada, an American woman and member of the group 9/11 Families United, said in a statement:

Now the Saudis’ secrets are exposed and it is well past time for the Kingdom to own up to its officials’ roles in murdering thousands on American soil.

Strada’s husband, Tom, worked on the 104th story of the WTC North Tower and was killed on 9/11, four days after their third child was born.
