The 2021 NFL season kicked off Thursday night, as the consummate media darling Dallas Cowboys took on the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The matchup pitted two high profile quarterbacks against each other. Cowboys signal caller Dak Prescott is coming off a record offseason contract extension, but is also coming back from a devastating leg injury that ended his 2020 campaign. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady is coming off his unprecedented 7th Super Bowl victory and is entering his 22nd season in the league. Brady looks to add to an illustrious legacy as the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

The season started with a bang as the Buccaneers took down the Cowboys 31-29 in a thrilling game before a full crowd at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Fans saw a familiar sight as the classic QB/TE tandem of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski hooked up for 2 of the Buccaneers’ 4 touchdowns. The veterans shined for Tampa Bay, as superstar receiver Antonio Brown caught a brilliant deep ball from Brady for a touchdown at the end of the first half. Brady continued to defy time with an impressive outing, throwing for 379 yards and 4 TDs.

Prescott also had a stellar performance in his first game back from injury, throwing for 403 yards and 3 touchdowns. The game came down to the wire, as Tampa Bay won on a 36-yard field goal from kicker Ryan Succop with two seconds left in the game.

The rest of the NFL teams will take the field on Sunday, with the Ravens and Raiders playing on Monday night.
