Here at FISM News, we do our best every week to bring you the news of the day from a biblical worldview. We report current events honestly, succinctly, and with integrity. But with all the news we report, there is a piece of news more important than anything else, which we remember and celebrate during the Easter season. We want to share this news with you.
The news is this: Jesus Christ rose from the dead. He truly died on a Roman cross, murdered like a common criminal in one of the most horrific ways known to man. He was truly buried. And He truly rose from the dead.
Why is this important? The Bible tells us that we are all sinners. We have all said, done, and thought things that would grieve the heart of God. Because of our rebellion against God (which, if you watch our news program, you’ll see that many of the news events we cover are a direct result of humanity’s heinous rebellion), we deserve eternal death. We deserve separation from God. We deserve an eternity in hell.
But God, because of His great love for us, sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come into the world rescue His people from their sin. Christ died on the cross to take the punishment we deserved, and He rose again to defeat sin and death forever.
He gives the free gift of eternal life to those who simply turn from their sin and trust in Christ as their Savior and Lord. The Bible says in Romans 10:9,
If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
This, dear friends, is the greatest news of all. This is our desire for you, that you also would trust in Christ as your Savior and Lord. Repent and believe on the name of the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31).
Jesus Christ has come to save sinners. He has brought us back to the Father. And He rules and reigns today as our loving and sovereign King.
May you experience the joy of Christ this Easter. He is not dead. He is risen.
