Abortion More Deadly Than COVID-19 in 2020

For many people, 2020 will be memorialized as the year that was ruined by COVID-19.  Graduations were canceled, trips postponed, and lives affected by the disease itself as well as the cultural and political response to it.  In 2020, roughly 1.8 million deaths were attributed, in some way, to COVID-19 worldwide.

Yet, there was another tremendous threat to life in 2020 that was unnoticed by most and blatantly ignored by mainstream media.  Approximately 42.7 million babies were aborted across the world in this past year alone.  Another year in a postmodern and post-Christian world has seen far too many babies murdered before leaving their mother’s womb.  In Great Britain, abortions surged as the two child benefit cap, first introduced in 2017, caused many families in lock-down to seriously consider abortion as a viable and even noble option for family planning.

Make no mistake: COVID-19 has been devastating for most and deadly for many.  There will surely be many more deaths related to COVID-19 in 2021.  Even as the death toll for this virus continues to climb, in the long run the number of lives taken by abortion vastly dwarfs those taken by COVID-19.  Tragically, in 2020 the most vulnerable place of life, the womb, was also one of the most dangerous. Unfortunately, these deaths will by and large be unrecognized and unreported.
