Secretary of State Antony Blinken is back in Israel today where he’s urging leaders to allow for a humanitarian pause to boost aid to Gaza and free more hostages.

Blinken says the details have yet to be worked out and acknowledged the real risk that a pause could benefit Hamas.

Meanwhile, it appears the White House is exploring the possibility of more than one pause. Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby explained that the Biden administration is now considering multiple pauses.

The White House has made it clear that it is not seeking a ceasefire, something that’s been called for by hard-left Democrats and activists, but outright rejected by Republicans like House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Many Republicans have come out against the idea of any sort of pause and cited fears that it will give Hamas time to regroup.
