The White House says Iran is actively facilitating rocket and drone attacks against U.S. bases in Iraq and Syria.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Monday there are concerns of further escalation in the Middle East. FISM News reported on three of those attacks last week, but Kirby says there have been even more attacks in the past few days.

Kirby also warned hostile actors not to escalate or widen the conflict, as the White House has previously stated.

President Joe Biden has ordered the Defense Department to brace for more attacks. As a result, the U.S. is sending two carrier strike groups and additional air defenses to the region.

This comes as Biden and other world leaders released a joint statement on their support for Israel and its right to defend itself against terrorism. But they also underscored the need for humanitarian aid in Gaza and urged Israel again to protect civilians.
