The State of Texas is fighting back against what it claims is a Biden administration directive to cut razor wire along the southern border.
Texas Attorney Gen Ken. Paxton and the Texas Public Policy Foundation filed the lawsuit Tuesday. The suit names the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, among others, as defendants.
The lawsuit says federal agents have developed a policy of destroying the wire barrier to “assist thousands of aliens to illegally cross the Rio Grande.” The court filing details more than 20 times Border Patrol has cut openings since Sept. 20.
Paxton says the state has a sovereign right to construct border barriers. He’s asked the courts to block federal agents from destroying Texas property.
