The coordinated, large-scale attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists on Sunday surprised the world, not only because there was no intelligence to suggest that it would happen but because of the shocking violence visited upon the Israeli citizens.

While Israelis frantically searched for loved ones and cried out in grief as they mourned the dead, a second shock came in the form of unmitigated antisemitism from Israel’s enemies in the Middle East and, far more surprisingly, here in the U.S.

American Lawmakers, media outlets, and college campuses wasted little time in unabashedly expressing hatred for the country’s longtime ally. 

“Squad” Reps. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and  Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) immediately called for an end to U.S. aid to Israel.

Bush declared in a post on X that a “just and lasting peace” in the region cannot be achieved until the U.S. government stops supporting “Israeli military occupation and apartheid.” 

Omar responded to the terrorist attacks on Israel by calling on the U.S. to cease “continuing unconditional weapons sales and military aid to Israel.” Instead, she said that the U.S. must “at long last … use its diplomatic might to push for peace.”

Among the three, Tlaib was the most overt in expressing sympathy for the Hamas terrorists.

“The path to that future must include lifting the blockade, ending the occupation, and dismantling the apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance,” the Michigan Congresswoman said in a statement published on her website. “The failure to recognize the violent reality of living under siege, occupation, and apartheid makes no one safer. No person, no child anywhere should have to suffer or live in fear of violence. We cannot ignore the humanity in each other. As long as our country provides billions in unconditional funding to support the apartheid government, this heartbreaking cycle of violence will continue.”

Fox News reporter Hillary Vaughn confronted Tlaib over the statement at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.

“Congresswoman, Hamas terrorists have cut off babies’ heads and burned children alive, do you support Israel’s right to defend themselves against this brutality?” Vaughn asked, referring to the discovery of 40 Jewish babies that had been murdered by Hamas terrorists, many of whom had been decapitated.

Tlaib refused to answer and remained tight-lipped when Vaughn repeated the question, adding that Israeli women were being raped in the streets. “Do Israeli lives not matter to you?” 

Fox News reporter Bill Melugin called out Tlaib’s hypocrisy in a blistering social media post.

“In 2019, Rep. Rashida Tlaib got emotional at a hearing on migrant children being separated from their parents at the border, & called it ‘traumatic’ and ‘inhumane,’” he wrote. “Today, she had no comment, and no reaction when asked about Israeli children being beheaded by Hamas terrorists.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre condemned the Representatives at a press briefing on Tuesday.

“So, look, I’ve seen some of those statements this weekend. And we’re going to continue to be very clear: We believe they are wrong, we believe they’re repugnant, and we believe they’re disgraceful,” Jean-Pierre said.

“Our condemnation belongs squarely with terrorists who have brutally murdered, raped, kidnapped hundreds, hundreds of Israelis. There can be no equivocation about that. There are not two sides here. There are not two sides,” she continued.

During an interview with a local New York radio station, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said on Thursday that Christian fundamentalism in the U.S. has fanned the flames of conflict between Israel and Palestine. She singled out former President Donald Trump’s decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem as one example,  as reported by Business Insider. 

“It’s not just Islamic, it’s not just Jewish, it is also Christian,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “In the United States of America, Christian fundamentalism and nationalism — which has also been extremely anti-Semitic — has also aligned itself with some of the most right-wing and authoritarian and inflammatory powers in the region.”

The New York representative added that “the Israel of today is not the Israel of the Bible.” 

MEDIA CALLED OUT FOR ANTI-ISRAEL BIAS

Meanwhile, several media outlets and cable news networks have been criticized for softening language used to describe Hamas terrorists, including avoiding the “t” word altogether.

The New York Times was called out for editing an article published on Tuesday titled: “Hamas Leaves Trail of Terror in Israel,” accompanied by a subheading denouncing “the massacre of civilians by Hamas terrorists.”

Astute social media users noticed that, hours later, the Times swapped out the word “terrorists” for “gunmen.” 

RedState listed seven American media outlets and the U.K.’s BBC as among those who sterilized language in describing the Iranian-backed terrorists, opting for terms like “gunmen” or “fighters” and minimizing the atrocities the terrorists inflicted on Israeli women, children, and the elderly.

Immediately after the attacks, the Canadian Broadcasting Company reportedly issued an internal memo instructing journalists to avoid the use of the word “terrorists.”

NewsNation’s Dan Abrams, host of “Dan Abrams Live,” excoriated MSNBC anchors Mehdi Hasan, Ayman Mohyeldin, and Ali Velshi for “shameful pandering to their far-left audience” and said their refusal to call Hamas “terrorists” was “pathetic,” according to Mediate.

He went on to accuse the anchors of “victim blaming” and using “whataboutisms and false equivalencies” in their coverage of the attacks. 

Jonathan Greenblatt, the head of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), similarly criticized the network for characterizing Hamas as “fighters” rather than “terrorists.”

ACADEMIA FOMENTS JEWISH HATRED

Meanwhile, antisemitism is alive and well on college campuses across the U.S. The day after Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists attacked Israel, the national chapter of the National Students for Justice in Palestine issued a “call to action” on social media, urging their student chapters to demonstrate their support for Palestinians in a “day of resistance.”

The demonstrations, or “teach ins,”  will be held today at multiple campuses across the U.S., including Butler, Kent State University, New York University, Ohio State University, Purdue, Rutgers, the University of Illinois, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Virginia, this according Fox News report.

Earlier this week, 30 student groups at Harvard signed a statement blaming Israel for the attacks.

Conservative Radio Host Jason Rantz noted that an official student club at the University of Washington, Students United for Palestinian Equality and Return, celebrated the terrorist attacks against Israel and praised Hamas terrorists as “martyrs of Palestine.” 

BLACK LIVES MATTER

On Wednesday, Black Lives Matter Chicago deleted a pro-Hamas post from all of its official social media platforms amid significant backlash. The post in question showed a silhouette of a paraglider with a Palestinian flag attached to his parachute, captioned: “That is all that it is!”

On the day of the attack, terrorists used motorized paragliders to attack a large group of festivalgoers. At least 260 attendees were slaughtered in the attack.
