Russia is cozying up with Israel’s enemies as the war in Gaza threatens to escalate into a wider conflict as Moscow hosts delegations from both Iran and Hamas.

Russia’s foreign ministry says talks focused on the release of Russian citizens held among the Gaza hostages. But Hamas stated on Telegram that topics also included Israeli aggression and crimes “backed by the U.S. and many Western nations.”

Separately, ministry officials met with a senior Iranian official Thursday to discuss cooperation on ballistic missiles now that key U.N. sanctions have expired.

The Israeli government condemned the meetings and called them “obscene.”
