In a gut-wrenching development, a progressive Texas church is raising money to help shuttle kids to other states where they can undergo transgender treatments.

Under Texas law, it’s illegal for anyone under 18 to receive transgender treatments like surgeries or puberty blockers. As a result, last month the Fort Worth Galileo Church formed the nonprofit “North Texas TRANSportation Network” or NTTN.

Executive Director Cynthia Daniels says their goal is to be “a good neighbor to a group of people who have been selected to not be able to receive their healthcare.”

Approved applicants receive $1,000 to cover travel costs. To date, they’ve received two applications and helped pay for one trip.
