The horrors of abortion are now expanding internationally, as Mexico’s Supreme Court decriminalized abortion on Wednesday.

The ruling throws out all federal criminal penalties for abortion and demands that federal public health services and institutions offer abortion services to anyone who requests it.

But the ruling is seeing mixed reviews from the country’s citizens. Mexico’s National Institute for Women wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “Today is a day of victory and justice for Mexican women!”

Meanwhile, Irma Barrientos, director of the Civil Association for the Rights of the Conceived, sees the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the US as a beacon of hope.

Some 20 Mexican states still criminalize abortion, meaning the legal fight for life is likely to continue.
