Tragedy has struck Los Angeles as a third-generation police officer was shot and killed in cold blood while in his patrol vehicle Saturday night. A suspect is now sitting in custody.

A citizen saw Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer slumped in his cruiser in Palmdale, California, on Saturday. It was discovered that Clinkunbroomer, who was still alive at the time, had been shot in the back of the head.

He tragically succumbed to his injuries later that night.

Authorities immediately announced a $250,000 reward for information leading to the shooter and a suspect was identified and taken into custody without incident Sunday night following a tip.

The suspect’s identity has not been released to the public at this time and a motive remains unclear.
