Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz is fiercely threatening Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) with an ouster over the shutdown process. Gaetz spoke Tuesday on the House floor and accused McCarthy of being a “poor” leader for the chamber.

Gaetz is also taking measures to prepare for a likely government shutdown. According to the Daily Caller, Gaetz sent a letter to the Chief Administrative Officer of the House requesting that his pay be withheld until government funding is established.

Members of Congress tend to continue receiving pay during shutdowns, making this an interesting break in tradition for Gaetz.
