Two years ago, the Taliban reclaimed Afghanistan amidst the American withdrawal. Now a new United Nations report reveals that the Islamic terrorist group has killed more than 200 government officials since its return to power.

The Taliban is targeting former army, police, and intelligence forces. The UN’s Assistance Mission in Afghanistan has also documented at least 800 human rights violations against former Afghan government officials and security forces in the last two years.

The UN called it a betrayal of trust, since the Taliban initially promised a general amnesty for those linked to the former government and international forces.

But the Taliban dismissed the report, writing off any alleged killings as personal revenge killings, not acts of the government.
